He was born at Hamburg (Germany) and spent many years as a young man on a German sailing boat. In 1882 he came to Walla, where he had lived since. In 1895 he married Miss Agnes Hoffmann, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. S. G. Hoffmann. He had two children, one son who was killed in the Great War, and a daughter who died in girlhood. |
